That old age finally caught up to his nemesis, Van Helsing, and Mina was unfortunately staked through the heart when the hunting party gave up hope in finding him. Dracula was enraged by this and ripped the head off the man unlucky enough to have to break the bad news to him. Dracula allowed himself to fall into the shadows amidst his despair. Observing humanity and the way the world worked. Watching and waiting for the chance to strike.
In a move to return to his former glory, Dracula engaged in a new battlefield. One of intrigue over brute strength and military tactics. Politics. Under the false name Val Templar, Dracula became a politician for the conservative party and began to work on his campaign for Mayor. While other vampires had to be weary of the sun, Dracula only worry was that the daylight hours took away his supernatural abilities making him vulnerable to mortal wounds. He was at his strongest in the night. Putting his understanding of humanity to good use, he was able to win the votes of his fellow countrymen and became Mayor of Moon Valley. Of course, this was only the first step. The first step to ruling it all once again.
